Mary Ryan

Mary Ryan, 84 was called home to her eternal resting place on August 27, 2023.  She was born on August 13, 1939, in Memphis, Tennessee to Paul Hanks and Goldie Masters.   She later moved to Ohio where she made her home for the remainder of her life.

On June 20, 1987, she married her beloved husband, Gary Ryan.  Mary and Gary were the owners of Mary’s Decorating for many years, painting and wallpapering for others while working side by side.  They did everything together!

Nothing was more important to Mary than her family.   She was happiest when everyone was together, celebrating holidays or just hanging out.  Mary loved to bake, her specialties being chocolate chip cookies and brownies.  She also enjoyed spending time at the casino, especially at her slot machines.

To know Mary was to love her.  She gave tirelessly and loved endlessly.  She had a gift for loving the seemingly unlovable and making everyone feel special.  Mary was loving, kind, and respected everyone.  She spent her life helping and serving others.   When someone was in need, she helped.  It didn’t matter whether they knew her or not.  She would help complete strangers.

Mary is predeceased by her parents as well as sisters, Delores Schultz, June Dittmar, and Joan Schmalzried.  She is survived by her beloved husband, Gary Ryan; her children, Shelly, Teri (Eric), Lori (Dave), and Michael (Ethel); and sister, Paula Hoover (Monte). Mary adored her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was an aunt and great aunt to many, and a friend to all.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her amazing life on Saturday, September 2 at the Normandy Breakwater Apartments, 22701 Lake Road, Rocky River, OH 44116 at 11:30.
