Agnes Catherine Gant
Agnes Catherine Gant (Thorn), 94, passed away February 17, 2022.
Born in Akron, Ohio, Agnes obtained a Bachelor’s Degree and two Master’s Degrees in various fields of education. She dedicated her life to educating and serving others and was a teacher of deaf children for Akron Public Schools for more than 40 years. In her retirement she continued to be an advocate and interpreter for the deaf community as well as volunteer for numerous service-oriented organizations, including churches, hospitals and most often OPEN M. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing teddy bears, joining her friend for “lunch bunch”, watching game shows or Cleveland Indians games, doing crossword puzzles and crocheting.
Agnes is preceded in death by her parents, Ustes and Mary, sister Avis and brothers Arlie, Averille and Mansel. She is survived by son Daniel, granddaughter Christy (Iain), great grandchildren Tessa, Cora and Cooper and her beloved dog, Buddy.
While a private family memorial service has occurred, those wishing to honor Agnes’s memory may make donations to the ministry closest to her heart:
