Alan Jay Camlin

August 17, 1955 — August 28, 2024

North Ridgeville

Alan Jay Camlin, 69, of North Ridgeville, OH passed away August 28, 2024 after a short illness. He was born in Connellsville, PA and grew up in Cleveland, OH. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Lucretia, “Lu”; daughters, Julie (John), Gwen (Brian) and Ashley; son, Patrick (Taylor); grandsons, Brett, Connor and Zack; and 5 granddaughters; 4 great-grandchildren; and Sisters-in-law, Brothers-in-law, Step Mother, Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, "Brothers" and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Mother Alice and Father Wilbur.

Al grew up on 34th Street in Cleveland, and most Labor Day weekends would attend St Rocco’s Festival to get a bag of Zeppolis and sausage sandwiches. He met and became lifelong friends with many of the neighborhood kids on that block. Al worked in the repair department and became service manager and then the facility manager at White / Viking / Pfaff Sewing Machine Company for over 30 years. He then worked for United Transportation Union for over 10 years before retiring in 2021. He loved spending time with his family and using the latest and greatest gadgets to capture those moments. Now if only we could find all those tapes. He enjoyed bowling, football, baseball and softball, golfing (he was a member of multiple golf leagues), fishing (especially in Canada), hanging out at the Eagles on Thursday nights in Brunswick, and making pancakes for his granddaughters. He became a friend to everyone he met, like those who worked at Pine Hills golf course, cut his hair for over 40 years, or the guy in Medina that he would always recommend to anyone looking for a car.

A private internment will take place at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Avon, Ohio. A celebration of life will take place at Tom’s Country Place in Avon, Ohio on October 20, 2024 from 1-4pm. As we were unable to have the annual summer party, we would like the celebration to honor that party. Please do not dress formally but rather in what you would wear to a backyard party.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences and special memories of Al can be shared with his family online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
