Albert (Al) Paul Ferrie Jr., 69, of Olmsted Falls, OH passed away Thursday, December 15
th
, 2022, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. He was born to Albert P. and Florence C. Ferrie in Wheeling, WV on August 12
th
, 1953. Al graduated from John Marshal High School in Glendale, WV in 1971. He went on to attend college at West Virginia Northern Community College in Wheeling, WV earning his accounting degree, and furthered his education later in life at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.
His career spanned several companies including Genuine Parts, ICI Autocolor, PPG Industries, and Q-Lab. He was also a DJ for the WEIF radio station in Moundsville, WV where he got his nickname Big Al. He was a member of the St. Mary of the Falls Parish in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, where he also joined the Knights of Columbus. Al very much enjoyed living life: spending time with his family, taking his grandkids on many adventures, sharing in food and laughter with his friends, traveling to several places across the world, and was an avid Star Trek and James Bond fan.
Al was preceded in death by his sister, Alberta P. (1952), mother, Florence C. (1980), father, Albert P. (1994), and niece, Tausha H.N. (2007).
He is survived by his sister, Andrea (Hubert) Kuhn of Glen Easton, WV, daughter, Christina (Kris) Ferrie of Lorain, OH, and daughter, Alberta (Harold) Ferrie of Canal Fulton, OH. 6 grandkids: Kaitlin, Dakota, Connor, Cameron, Owen and Alaina (due 5-25-23), nephew Bill, and great-niece Jenna.
Services will be held at St. Mary of the Falls Parish in Olmsted Falls, OH within the first two weeks of the new year. Friends and family are welcome. There will also be a graveside service at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling, WV in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Al.
