Alejandro Madrid Chavez (born October 22, 1965), also known as Alex, passed away on February 8, 2023, after succumbing to injuries from a bad fall. He was born to Alejandro Diaz Chavez and Guadalupe Madrid Chavez (both deceased) and is survived by the love of his life, his beautiful daughter, Natasha, his loving sisters Frances and Lupita, nieces Cheyenne and Lexi, his Tio Jimmy, as well as many loving cousins and awesome friends including dear Chet.
Alex lived for adventure and connection. Born in Bisbee, Arizona, Alex grew up sharing desert adventures with his childhood friends and sisters. He loved to travel, make friends, and to ultimately be the life of the party. In Bellingham, WA he was known for his acting and improv, and was a karaoke king, owning two karaoke machines at one point. He had so many dreams (including being a movie star in LA), and he chased as many of these dreams as he could.
Alex was known by many for his cooking but would want to be remembered as someone who helped others and loved fiercely. Food became a way for him to bring people together, and he would be the first to volunteer to cook for any event or gathering. His cooking also allowed him to travel the country (and to London) where he made so many friends and memories. He had an incredible ability to make connections instantly and would cherish all these connections. He loved surprising people he loved and doing whatever he could to make them smile. Often, he would spend hours on the phone, keeping up with these friendships.
He would want to be remembered as having made the life better of everyone he met, as a ManKind Project warrior, having won many food awards, having loved beautiful and strong women, changed many lives, and as a beautiful brown man with great calves. A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced. Condolences and special memories of Alex can be shared with his family online at
