April was born on October 7
th
, 1986 to Ted and Sharon Grandinette, of Buckhannon, WV. April attended Buckhannon-Upshur High School and graduated from Fairmont State University, class of 2008, where she later worked as an adjunct professor and was loved by her students and colleagues alike.
April married her college sweetheart Dave Davis in 2010. Together, they were blessed with their wonderful daughter Aria, who was April’s whole life. As a mother, April went above and beyond, even when diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She faced this diagnosis with the strength and fearlessness of the superwoman and supermom she was, and she did so with her unique brand of authenticity and humor.
Her many interests included cats, art, photography and graphic design, as well as an unparalleled enthusiasm for scary movies and all things spooky. In her home, it was Halloween all-year-round, and April was famous for her Halloween parties. She loved gardening, caring for her chickens, baking, canning and sharing the fruits of her labor. She also ran her own photography and design business which exemplified her many artistic talents, often lending her skills to friends and family in need of an artistic hand. She was a great believer in the blessings of science and the transformative nature of education, acting as a skilled and dedicated homeschool teacher to Aria for many years.
April will be forever missed by her family and friends. She was a fierce and loving advocate for her family and those lucky enough to call her a friend. Most of all, she was an incredible, loving wife to Dave and a superhero, one-of-a-kind mom to Aria.
April was passionate about reading and appreciated the power of words. The depth and intensity of her love for her daughter is exemplified in the power of these words from one of her favorite books: “Love as powerful as your mother’s for you leaves its own mark. To have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever.” –
