Arthur Darrell Bibbs, 73, of North Olmsted, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2nd, 2024.
He was born August 4th, 1950 in Lakewood, Ohio to the late Arthur and Frances Bibbs.
Art had a lifelong passion for people, music, and electronics. He delighted in conversation, sharing stories and telling jokes, and loved to make people smile with his sharp wit and tremendous sense of humor. He was one of the smartest people you could ever meet, and was kind and generous to all around him. Often giving his time and resources to help others, he played guitar and sang for Sunday school singalongs, was active for many years in Cub Scouts, coached St. Brendan’s softball, and was involved in many other activities. Throughout his life, he maintained many lifelong friendships and was loved by many more.
Starting from an early age, Art took piano lessons at a music school and played cornet in high school marching band. He also played guitar and keyboard, and sang in a band with his long-time friends. For many years, they would gather to play their favorite songs or rent the amphitheater at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo for the much-loved Zoo Jam, to the delight of those who stopped to listen. His home was often filled with the sound of his music, strumming his guitar or playing his keyboard while singing his heart out.
Art loved electronics, from HAM radio to computers, and repaired everything from televisions to appliances. He worked at Olson Electronics, and then went on to work at Computer Resources and Arrow Electronics. He eventually opened his own computer repair shop, PC Power, which he operated for 25 years. Art also taught several courses at Cleveland State University, helped to develop curriculum at Lorain County Community College, and served as an advisor for the Science Olympiad at Rocky River High School. Always full of ideas, he often had side projects and designed several products of his own.
Arthur is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Margaret Ann Bibbs. He is survived by his three sons, Brian, John, and Jamie (Jessie) Bibbs; his grandchildren, Dexter and Lydia Bibbs; and his loving sister, Cathy Bibbs-Cornell.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service which will take place on Monday, February 19th, 2024 at 10am at St. Brendan Parish, 4242 Brendan Lane, North Olmsted, OH 44070.
