Barbara Sue Shauck

Barbara Sue Shauck, age 85 of Amherst, passed away Friday evening May 11th at Devon Oaks Assisted Living in Westlake following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Shauck was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 16, 1932 to Otto and Verna Hanson. She was a graduate of Bentley High School in Livonia, Michigan and from Otterbein College in 1954. Barbara worked at Mueller Packaging Company in Oberlin, the Nordson Corporation in Amherst, the Amherst Fabric Shop, and as secretary of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Amherst.

Barbara was a member of (Westminster) Heritage Presbyterian Church where she sang in the church choir as well as the Proclamation Community Choir. She enjoyed keeping fit, working out with the Silver Sneakers until her late seventies. She was an avid gardener, seamstress and volunteer worker, helping with the Lorain County Food Bank and the Rotary Club in Amherst. She was known for her craft work using cloth, wood, and other media. Her arts and crafts were sold as distant as Colorado as “Cindy`s Mom Creations”.

She is survived by her sister Lois (Dave), Lieberman of Evanston, Illinois; daughters Cindy (Tim) Cole of Redstone, Colorado, Sandy (David) of Lakewood; sons Alan (Yolanda) Shauck of Amherst Township and James R. Shauck of Lorain; grandchildren Scott (Ana) Brown of Duluth, Georgia, Chloe Shauck of Springfield, Missouri and Jacob Shauck of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Robert (Bob) Shauck; and sister Patricia Hanson.

A private burial will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon, Ohio.
