Barbara Whiskin
May 31, 1954 — April 4, 2024
Westlake
Barbara "Barb/Barbie" Hale Whiskin of Westlake, Ohio sadly passed away at the age of 69 on April 4, 2024. She was born in Michigan to the late Gerald and Stephanie "Stella" Hale, but grew up in Cullman, Alabama and considered that her true home.
Barb worked as an RN at both the St. John's Hospital and the Cleveland clinic as bedside nurse, supervisor, and case manager where she translated her passion for taking care of others into a career. If you asked her, though, Barb would always tell you her proudest achievement being a mother.
Barb's family and friends were a major part of every aspect of her life, and each person held a special place in her heart. Barb's loved ones always came first and she did her best to make sure they knew they were truly cherished. To her, relationships were like gardens (even if she had the furthest thing from an actual green thumb!); they take work to maintain and more than just a little effort. If you were lucky enough to be loved by her, Barb was always there willing to roll up her sleeves and put in the work for you.
Along with her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her sister, Mary. Left to carry on her memory are her loving daughter, Samantha; spouse, Dick; brother, Gilbert (Jenny) Hale, sister, Sandra (the late Bob) McAvoy, nephews, Ben, Nick, Mike, and Chris; niece Crystal; cousin Reda (the late Jim); as well as many other cousins, second cousins, and other relations.
To honor Barb's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Please privately celebrate Barb's memory in your own ways, by keeping her memory alive and sharing any stories you have about her amazing life. Knowing people were thinking of her and smiling is what she would have wanted most.
