Carl Jacob Nagel, 97, of Uniontown Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2023. He was born on September 7, 1926, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Carl and Violet (McCreary) Nagel.
Carl was an amazing father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Following in his father's footsteps, Carl began his career delivering bread for Nickel's Bakery. When home delivery became obsolete, he pursued a new path and attended truck driving school, obtaining his CDL license. He then embarked on a long-distance truck driving career with PIE.
Upon retirement, Carl discovered a passion for Intarsia, a form of woodworking. He became quite accomplished and generously shared his beautiful pieces with the local community. His artwork was featured in the Hartville News, and he donated pieces to various organizations such as Lake High School, Hartville Fire Department, Northwest High School, and the Hartville Historical Society. Carl took great joy in gifting his family and friends with his artwork every Christmas, completing an impressive 25 pieces each year.
In addition to his artistic talents, Carl loved yearly fishing trips to Canada with his family in July and his sons and grandsons in the fall. He proudly served in the US Navy. His military service was a testament to his dedication and commitment to his country.
Carl is survived by his sons, Clyde (Rick) Nagel and wife Jane, and William (Bill) Nagel and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Melanie (Daniel) Lemos, Laurie (Ryan) Dutton, Josh Nagel, Jeff (Sarah) Nagel, and Justin Nagel; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Gabrielle, Lily, Adaline, Jackson, and Bennett Nagel, Kailee Hudgins, Tessa, Brody, and Brooke Dutton, and Isaiah and Olivia Lemos. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Rutherford, and special friend, Irene Hershberger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura (Deremer) Nagel; son, Carl (Mark) Nagel; grandsons, Danny, Johnny, and Joseph Nagel; brother, Lewis Nagel; and sisters, Dona Snyder, Vera (June) Kennedy, Ruth (Midge) Lister, Dorothy Shaver, and Mary Jo McEuen.
Carl will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, talent, and dedication will forever be cherished.
