Charles Joseph Light,
age 91, of Canton, passed away June 14, 2022, in Louisville after a period of declining health and loving care by David and Missy Light, Sara Light and Mark and Ann Light. Charlie was born September 4, 1930, in Akron, Ohio to Howard Barwis Light and Laura Irene (Jordan) Light. He attended Margaret Park School and graduated from Akron South High in 1948. In 1958 he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Akron University, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon.
He married Shirley Rae Cassidy on June 20, 1959.
A US Army veteran, he served in the Korean War from 1951-1953. He retired in 1992 from McKesson & Robbins after a 33-year career. Post-retirement, Charlie delivered prescription drugs for Dartmouth Pharmacy and volunteered at a local nursing home.
An active member and elder at Cornerstone Chapel, he loved the Lord and loved life. Ever the optimist, he was an outstanding listener, a team player and a loyal, helpful, tender-hearted, thoughtful and genuine man to all. It’s no exaggeration to say that everyone loved Charlie.
