Charles William Melzer, 85, Family Man, Lover of Historic Aircraft, and Golfer
Charles W. (Chuck or Skip) Melzer passed away peacefully the morning of March 14th 2024 at the Thomas P. Perciak Family Residential Hospice in Strongsville, Ohio.
Chuck was born in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Rhodes High School. He served his country in the Ohio National Guard and worked for AC Delco (General Motors) until he retired. Chuck was an avid golfer and was involved in administrating his golf leagues, loved historic aircraft and often frequented various air shows and museums, along with building models. He was particularly proud of meeting one of his biggest heroes, test pilot Chuck Yeager. Chuck was also an avid sports fans and supported the Browns, Buckeyes, and Indians/Guardians.
Survivors include his life partner R. Lana Melzer (nee Sadowski), his children Kirsten B. Perdue (Kevin), Todd C. Melzer (Renee), and Brad C. Melzer (Audrey). In addition, he leaves his grandchildren Cullen, Carter, and Carson Perdue, Madison, Jami, and Aurora Melzer, and Winston and Miles Melzer. Chuck was also blessed to meet his great granddaughter, Wrenley Wootton.
Chuck was preceded by his father William Melzer, his mother Alice Melzer, and his sister Nancy Steinhoff.
