Claire I. Burgess

Claire I. Burgess, age 80, passed away peacefully July 1, 2024, after a long illness at her home in Laurel Lake Retirement Community of Hudson, Ohio.

She was born in Bloomfield, New Jersey on December 13, 1943, the youngest child of the late Nesfield L Clint and Francis Mary (Scheland) Clint. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Jeanne DeMyer, Francis Bierwas, Nesfield L Clint Junior, and her son, Christopher Scott Burgess.

She retired from Kent State University and had previously work for the Hudson Local School District as well as the Hudson Fire Department Prevention Bureau. She had volunteered for many years as a member of the Hudson Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Roger Burgess, and is cherished by granddaughters, Jacqueline and Jasmine Ward of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews.

Claire loved music and had been a member of Cuyahoga Falls Community Chorus and the Laurel Lake Encore Chorale. She loved to paint, write poetry, and play the organ for self-enjoyment. She was an avid reader and had a strong command of the English language. She enjoyed movies and traveling with her husband. Her warm smile and kind heart and deep love for her family and friends will be forever remembered.

There will be no calling hours. She will be cremated and interred in North Lawn Memorial Gardens in Peninsula, Ohio alongside her son, Christopher.

A memorial service will be held August 10 at 2 pm at the First Congregational Church of Hudson, 47 Aurora Street, Hudson, Ohio 44236.
