Dalene (Watson) Nichols Tremblay passed away at her daughter’s home Thursday, April 6th, 2023 after an extended illness. Dalene was born in Akron, Ohio in 1938 to James and Katherine Watson, the 5th of 8 siblings. She grew up in Northampton Township and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School. Immediately following high school, she traveled to Denver, married her first husband becoming an Air Force wife, igniting her love of travel, as they moved to Wyoming and as far as Alaska. Returning to Akron in 1962 with her daughter, she worked many years at Akron restaurants as a waitress, with the nickname of “Sammy”.
She moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1975 marrying her second husband, James Tremblay and they worked for Mobile Oil for 20+ years. After her husband passed, she returned to Ohio to care for her sick brother in Edinburg, then settled in Alliance, continuing caregiving in homes for Caring Hands, until she was 72, when an injury forced her to retire.
At 84, she returned to the faith of her childhood and was baptized, giving her peace.
Dalene loved to celebrate life, the holidays and those she loved. She was known for her generosity, love and sense of humor. She was in her glory in the kitchen, cooking for neighbors and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Dalene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings: Don, Gwili, Fred, Bill Tom and Larry.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Nichols) Porinchak; her sister, Sharon (Paul) Roundy; grandchildren, Faith (Noah) Beth (Clayton, and Josiah; great-grandchildren, Rebekah, Isaiah, Aaron, Nathan, Violet, Mason and Landon; many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Florida family, stepchildren, James Tremblay Jr., Betty and Phyllis; step-grandchildren, James B. Tremblay, Chris, Jeff, Beth and their families.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, May 7th, 2023 at 2pm at New Baltimore Community Church, 7761 Pontius St., Alliance, Ohio 44601 with a potluck afterwards. Condolences and special memories of Dalene can be shared with her family online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
