Dan Bralek

Dan Bralek, 67, passed away December 21, 2023 after a long, courageous battle to recover from a stroke.  He was born in Akron and graduated from Garfield High School in 1974.  He resided in Uniontown for the last 20 years.  

Dan worked construction for most of his life, and was a retired member of the Operating Engineers Local 18.  Some of life’s favorite things for him included eating his Mom’s pierogi (pyrohy), long walks in the woods with his dog, and Vegas vacations.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and an occasional round of golf.  

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Helen Bralek and brothers Tommy (Gwen) and Steve (Marilyn).   He is survived by his wife Cathy (Johnson), beloved dog Katie, brothers John (Mary) of Ravenna, and Paul (Julie) of Akron.  He is also survived by sisters Helen Taras (Tom) of Cuyahoga Falls, Nancy Wenk of Suffield, and Patty Wartko (Dave) of Mogadore. 

Cremation is taking place.   Per Dan’s request, there will be no calling hours.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses, therapy staff, and aides at Falls Village Skilled Nursing and Rehab for the kind, compassionate care and encouragement provided to Danny over the last five months.  He was very grateful for the ongoing support he was given.  May he now rest in peace.
