Daniel Ray Billman (Dan), a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and companion, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 6th, 2025, at the age of 71 in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Born on November 2nd, 1953, in Canton, Ohio, Dan was known for his unwavering love for his family, his kind heart, and his spirited personality, often described as stubborn and ornery.

A proud veteran, Dan served in the United States Army in 1972. He was a passionate outdoorsman, and found great joy in fishing, spending countless peaceful hours by the water. Dan’s appreciation for life’s simple pleasures extended to his love of flea markets, where he enjoyed buying, selling, and trading treasures. Dan was also an avid coin dealer, cherishing the historical significance and monetary value of each piece in his collection.

Above all, Dan’s greatest joy was his family, especially the love of his life, Fran Schneider. He was a loving father to Deanna (Nelson) Riesdorph, Danielle Billman, Carla (Otto) Polilli, Katie Billman, and Daniel (Heather) Billman II, a cherished grandfather to Andrew (Lacey) Bethards, Colton (Kylynn) Sterling, Melisa Kae, Kari (Adam) Merry, Kasey (Jose) Lopez, Robert Hartshorne, Ryan Hartshorne, Riley Hartshorne, Olivia Poole, Arian Poole, Abigail (Cason) McCauley, Otto Polilli IV, Samantha, Emma, Lily, Ava, Arianna, and Roman Billman, and a proud great-grandfather to Calionna, Avery, Karina, Karmella, Blake, Hudson, Haisley, Brynlee, Marybella, Callie, and James.

His warmth, wisdom, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him. Dan's legacy will continue to live on through the countless cherished memories shared by his loved ones.

Dan is survived by his brother, Ronald Billman; his sister, Lisa Doney; his bonus brother, Thomas Malone, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Francis Billman; his parents, Raymond and Eleanor (Beddell) Billman; his brothers, Jeff, Bryan, Raymond (Louie), and Mark Billman; his great-grandchildren, Antonio Lopez, Amelia Merry, and Harley Hartshorne; and his son-in-law, Isaac Franklyn Poole III.

In accordance with Dan’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A private memorial will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The ADAMHS board of Tuscarawas and Carroll counties and Community Hospice Truman House.

Daniel will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
