David E. Mitchell

David Mitchell, 82, of Saint Joseph Michigan passed away July 25th while undergoing treatment at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dave was born in Findlay, Ohio to Joseph and Pauline Mitchell.  He was Married to Mary Carolyn Mitchell for 60 years. He is survived by his wife Carolyn; his sons David and Michael; daughter in-law-Susan; grandchildren Vincenzo, Antonio, Kathryn and Charles.  Preceded in death by his daughter Molly.

Dave received a degree in accounting from Tiffin University in 1965 and started his career at RCA in Findlay before taking a job as an industrial engineer with Whirlpool Corporation.  He was with Whirlpool from 1972 until his retirement as Director of Cooking Technology in 1999.  Dave served his community in many ways, a member of the Ohio National Guard in the 1960’s, served as a Board Member on the Marion Ohio Chamber of Commerce, Med Center Hospital, the Marion Airport Commission and the Marion Manufacturing council,  most recently he served on the Board of Trustees for Tiffin University.  At Tiffin, he was the National Campaign Chairman for “Invest In What Matters”, a fund raising campaign for the university. In honor of his efforts, Tiffin University named the Presidential Suite after him in 2002. Dave’s greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed fishing off of his dock with his grandkids at Gull Lake, travel, history, HAM Radio, and college football.
