David M. Fedor, 70, died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 5, 2023, after living with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) for four years. His greatest joy was his family, including a 46-year marriage to his best friend. His three sons admired and loved him greatly, and he was always the first call for advice or to share life news. His granddaughters loved to talk to, play with and tease their PopPop. He was a constant in their lives and an enthusiastic fan at countless youth soccer games. His youngest granddaughter’s famous smile would light up PopPop’s whole face.
Originally from Conneaut, Ohio, David eventually settled in Cleveland Heights with his wife, where they lived happily for the next 43 years. He loved his 40-year long career at Lincoln Electric, which enabled him to travel to all but one continent and to play Bridge with his colleagues every day during lunch. Unfortunately, Covid brought on an early retirement, so he consoled himself with the purchase of his dream car – a Carmine Red Porsche 911 in which he loved picking his grandchildren up from school. Playing golf with his friends and sons, going to movies, completing word puzzles, and working on ever present house projects were his other favorite hobbies. He was also a Cleveland sports fan and longtime Guardians season ticket holder and enjoyed taking his sons and granddaughters to games. David was a graduate of Saint John’s High School (‘71), Kenyon College (‘75), and Purdue University (‘80) where he met many lifelong friends.
David is survived by his wife, Katie; his sons, Nicholas, Nathan, and Gabriel; wonderful daughters-in-laws, Barbara and Emma; amazing granddaughters Grace, Lucy, and Trudy; sister, Cheryl; brother-in-law who was really another brother, Michael; brother, Gregory; and eight nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Dominic Church (3450 Norwood Road, Shaker Heights, OH 44122) with a reception following at 1899 Social Club (20040 Van Aken Blvd, Shaker Heights, OH 44122).
