David H. Lyons age 80, passed away on the morning of July 15
th
, 2022. Born in Canton, Ohio on March 24
th
, 1942. Father, father-in-law, big brother, Grandpa, “Big-Papa” to his great-grandchildren, and “Uncle Buck” to his many nieces and nephews. He loved his family with all his heart.
Being a peoples’ person, he made friends everywhere he went and treated them like family. The 100+ birthday cards he received on his last birthday are a testament to this. He was a travelin’ man who enjoyed retirement at his southern Ohio cabin in the woods. A part of his heart has always been in Texas. Most recently residing at Amherst Meadows Senior Apartments, where he made new friends his own age. Thank you to the wonderful folks there who opened their arms to him.
No matter where you were in the world, he could tell you what your weather was going to be, and then tell you there was nothing you could about it since it was just “Mother Nature”. He was an avid gardener, phenomenal cook, and year-round grill master. Some of his favorite activities were canning peppers and making his famous maple syrup which he loved to share with others. Retired steelworker, dog lover, devoted outdoorsman and skilled hunter. Everyone knew him as a storyteller, telling tall tales with the best of them. He squeezed 200 years of living into the 80 that he was given.
Special gratitude goes out to the staff of Aultman Hospital, Amherst Meadows, The Gables of Canton and most especially, Traditions Hospice for the excellent care he received.
