David Charles Turk, aged 78, of Lyndhurst, Ohio, passed away on January 6th, 2025. He was born on February 21st, 1946, to Rev. Paul E Turk and Dorothy E (Goebel) Turk in Libertyville, Illinois. He is survived by his only brother, Robert P. Turk (Camille Cullinane Turk) of Topeka, Illinois, and Nephews, Michael C Turk of Havana, Illinois and Gregory Turk of Chandler, Arizona.
He attended elementary school in several Illinois communities while his Father served Methodist Churches in those communities. In 1962, his parents moved to Lyndhurst, Ohio, where David attended Brush School and graduated in 1964. He graduated from Miami of Ohio University in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in business. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army at station in the Pacific including Vietnam, Thailand, and Taiwan from 1968 to 1971. After his military service, he returned to the Lyndhurst area where he became involved in the electronics industry.
He excelled in athletics as evidence by being the starting point guard for Brush High School in 1967-68 and pursuing his passion for skiing and snow boarding into his adult years. He was a member of the Fagowee Ski Club for well over 50 years. He was especially active in skiing, volleyball, and playing euchre with spirited repartee for good measure. During the summer months, he enjoyed bicycling and excursions on Lake Erie. He is remembered by his friends for his easy going, carefree spirit, his dry humor, and a quick smile.
In keeping with David’s wishes, a small ceremony will be held at Western Reserve National Cemetery for Veteran’s at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made in David’s name to an organization of your choice. Condolences and special memories of David can be shared with his family online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
