David W. Shanley

David W. Shanley, 78 of Salem, died very unexpectedly at 8:35 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Salem Regional Medical Center while surrounded by his family and friends. Dave was born May 19, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Blanche and Benjamin Shanley. Dave was a graduate of South Hills High School. He enjoyed sales as his career, and he worked for Crane Deming Company, Morgan Engineering, and CTI. In 1981 Dave started Quaker Cleaning Company.

Dave was a wonderful husband, a very loving dad and a very proud pappy to his grandkids. He was a dedicated friend to many and could always be counted on. Dave enjoyed his weekends at his cabin on the Allegheny River while reading a good book and keeping his yard looking nice.

Survivors include his wife Melissa, whom he married November 19, 2018; a son, Wayne Shanley of Vacaville, California, two daughters, Holly (Andy) Stewart and Ronda (Tom) Goetz, both of Salem; two wonderful grandsons, Dillian (Morgan) Franklin of Columbus, Ohio and Travis Franklin of Akron, Ohio whom he was so proud of for all they have accomplished in their lives; two beautiful granddaughters, Haley and Taylor Stewart of Salem, who made his heart beat with so much love; two sisters, Donna Nicholson and Rudell Boehm; his brother, Larry Shanley, and a sister-in-law, Chrissy Davis.

He is preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years Donna who passed in 2014; three brothers-in-law, William Nicholson, Martin Boehm and Glenn Davis and a sister-in-law, Joanne Shanley.

In honor of his wishes there will be no calling hours. A service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 16, 2019 for immediate family and friends at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit, Ohio. A celebration of his life will be immediately following at the Shanley’s in Salem. Condolences can be shared with the family online at https://www.heritagecremationsociety.com/.
