Donald Lee Boggs, known as “Butch” to many friends and family passed away on April 21, 2024, at his home in Green, Ohio. Born on June 24, 1944, to the late Alice Boggs-Nichols and Carter Boggs. Don was a kind-hearted and generous man who was always willing to give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need.
Don met his soulmate and the love of his life, Anne, in middle school. Their first date was a game of H-O-R-S-E, and after graduating from Springfield High School, they were married on December 7, 1964.
Don was known by many in the construction business as “the best damn concrete truck driver” because he could get those trucks to places where most drivers couldn’t. He enjoyed working on cars and savoring a Bud Light Beer in his spare time. Any other beer would require tomato juice and pepper to be added. For Don, dinner was a time to take it slow and hum through every bite.
Dad’s words of comfort and encouragement will always be remembered. He used to say, “No matter what, keep going and take it easy, kid.”
Don was preceded in death by his parents and two of his grandsons, Damon and Sheldon Boggs. He is survived by his loving wife Anne, his children Cheryl McConahy (Richard), Brenda Cottrell (Stuart), Donald L. Boggs, Jr., Thomas Boggs (Stephanie), grandchildren Chris, Sean, Jessica, Shelby, Tanner, Carson, Steven, LeeAnne, great-grandchildren, Carter, Makennah, Hailey, Kora, Jocelyn, sister Bonnie, brother Denny, as well as his nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Don’s life is planned for June, when he would have turned 80. It will be held at 1425 Trails End Drive, New Franklin, Ohio, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on June 15, 2024. Condolences and special memories of Don can be shared with his family online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
