Donald Lee Schien, 76, born to Robert Lee and Betty Jane (Earney) Schien in Alton Illinois, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home with family on December 30,2022. Donald served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and transitioned into civilian life as a welder and, later, crane operator for the Parish Division of Dana Corporation. He spent his final working years driving tractor trailers across the country and ultimately retired to a beautiful area of rural New York state.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lynne (Weidenhammer) Schien, and his three daughters. Laura (James Baragiola), Kathy (Jeffrey Baker-Deceased), Jennifer (Corey Wagner), four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Also surviving Donald are his sisters Linda (Kenneth Summer) and Sue Brawley, two stepbrothers, Woody Daugherty (Kathie), and Dennis Daugherty, and multiple nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his youngest sister, Debbie (Terry Schoonover) and both parents.

He is remembered for his hard work, playful sense of humor, and general contempt for the government. He will be deeply missed. According to his wishes he will be cremated with no services.
