Edward P. Balan

Edward P. Balan (Ed), age 75, went home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2023 in Akron,Ohio with his lifelong partner, Cathryn (Cathy), his nephew, Chris and his wife, Debbie at his side.

Ed was born on May 10, 1947 in Maple Heights, Ohio to the late Theodore and Elda Balan. Ed’s brother Charles also preceded him in death.

Ed is survived by Cathryn (Cathy), niece, Christy Balan and her partner, Melody, and nephew, Chris Balan and his wife, Debbie.

Ed was a retired Physical Therapy Assistant. He was also a certified Equine therapist as well as a Massage therapist.  During retirement he worked part time at the YMCA in Green, Ohio. Ed was very outgoing, funny, and loved by all that knew him. He loved Border Collies.  Ed and Cathy at times had as many as 4 border collies and enjoyed herding them and competing in sheep dog trials. Ed’s boss and friend Larry enjoyed many good times together going to multiple music festivals such as jazz festivals.  Ed enjoyed cars, both old and new, and loved going to car shows. Ed and Cathy loved going to different wineries and concerts, they also enjoyed traveling together.
