Edward Walter Roman, 69, of Hinckley, passed at his home on December 18, 2023 after a hard-fought battle with dementia.
Ed was born to Edward and Doris on November 10, 1954. The oldest of six, he grew up in Sagamore Hills before graduating from Nordonia High in 1973. As the first in his family to attend college, he earned his Bachelor's Degree from John Carroll in 1977.
Ed served the public during his decades-long career in law enforcement, assuming many roles such as firearms instructor, undercover officer, K-9 handler, and detective.
From his youth well into retirement, he could often be found on the range, in his garage, or exploring the open roads on his motorcycle. His other interests included history, movies, and keeping up with the events of the world.
Those who were fortunate to have known Ed will miss his wisdom, humor, warmth, and devotion to others. Despite the weight of his illness, he faced it head-on with positivity and strength, and remains an inspiration to all who were with him along the way.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Roman (Kopac), his children Jennifer and Charles, his siblings Carol (David), John (Debra), Alan, Lori, and Maura (Thomas), and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A mass will be held at St. Barnabas Catholic Parish in Northfield on December 30 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation the preceding hour.
He will be inurned during a private ceremony at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bedford Heights.
