Edward David Warner, aged 83, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025 after a brief illness. He was born on October 17, 1941, and lived most of his life in Harrisburg/Louisville in the original family home. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1960. He graduated from Walsh College in 1964 with a BA in Finance and joined the Marines the following year. After an honorable discharge he stayed in California for several years where he worked at JC Penney in management.
Ed returned to Louisville to work in the family business Warner’s Garage, later owning it with his brother, Bob. They sold the business in 1993. Ed then started a painting and welding business, finally retiring in 2022.
Ed loved the outdoors, especially hiking. One of his most accomplished hikes was the Chilkoot Pass between British Columbia, Canada and Alaska. He shared his love of the outdoors through his photography. He was active in the Wilderness Center Nature Photo Club in Wilmot, Ohio and won numerous awards. He loved attending photography workshops. Ed would share his beautiful photographs with family and friends.
Ed was a caretaker by nature, always looking out for his family and friends, helping in any way that he could. He made sure his mom’s wish to remain at her home her whole life happened as she wanted. He was always very generous. Everyone in the family looked up to him and respected him. He will be greatly missed.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Renier Warner and Wilbert A Warner; his stepson, Mark Sharlow; brother-in-law, Jerry Edwards; sisters-in-law, Trudy Warner and Kathy Warner.
Ed is survived by his siblings, Bob Warner of Alliance, Jean (Dick) Deitrick of Louisville, Joe (Toni) Warner of Louisville, Dick (Karin) Warner of Cuyahoga Falls, John Warner of Louisville, Judy (Bill)Clair of Beloit, Jim (Michele) Warner of Louisville, Tom Warner (Alberto Cortez) of Pompano Beach, FL, Vince Warner of Canton and Eileen Edwards of Louisville; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Sandy Warner, her children and grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 24 at 11:00a.m. at Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Louisville. Please join us for a luncheon following Mass with time to share your favorite story involving Ed.
