Frank Russell age 92, passed away on February 12, 2022. He had resided in Erie, Pennsylvania, Punta Gorda, Florida and recently in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Alice and his son Doug Russell. He is greatly missed by his daughters Lisa Sheck (Bill) of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and Laura Klebe (Felix) of Seattle, Washington. Frank is also survived by grandchildren Mitchell Russell, Maria Kirby, Hallie Sheck and Emma, Julia, and Russell Klebe and three great grandchildren.
His family enjoyed listening to him reminisce about his teen years in the Wisconsin Dells including a summer spent as a tour boat guide. After graduating with an engineering degree from Case in Cleveland, Ohio, he married Alice and moved to Erie, PA. There he spent his career as an engineering manager at General Electric (DCM&G) where he was fortunate to work with many exceptional people.
Frank joined the active sailing community in Erie and built three sailboats that he raced with his son Doug. Although he had a lifelong interest in flying, it wasn’t until later in life that he got his pilot’s license and built an airplane (RV-6). Alice and Frank flew to many places including visits to grandchildren. For many years, Alice and Frank were snowbirds. After Alice passed, Frank moved to Florida to take advantage of the year-round flying weather. He enjoyed working on the plane and “gassing” with his pilot friends hanging out at the airport. Daughters Lisa and Laura like to think of him soaring through a clear blue sky.
In keeping with Frank’s wishes, no services are planned. Memorial contributions can be made to
