, 2015, Fred passed away. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on the 11
th
of September, 1917. He soon left St. Louis for Chicago where he spent most of his early life. In 1941 he left for service in the Army. He spent 2 ½ years traveling from USA to England, Africa, Sicily to Italy. Toward the end of his service he traveled to South America before coming back home. He returned to his wife in Bloomington, Indiana where he spent the couple of years going to college. When his GI ran out he took a job with Goodrich. Later he transferred to Devoe and Reynolds, a paint company.
He traveled for a couple years then moved to Cleveland. He later moved to the west side where he lived in Avon for the last 50 plus years. His first wife, Pat passed away in 1962. He had a son Fred Jr. Fred Jr. passed away in 2008. A daughter Gayle presently lives in California and works as a tour guide.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Gayle, four grandchildren: Tammy Ingram, Jaime Hricovic, Fred Joseph Gunther III and Jenna Gunther. Also five great-grandchildren; Hunter Ingram, Sara Hricovic, Paul Joseph Hricovic and Lilly Hricovic; and daughter-in-law, Ginny Gunther.
Fred’s second wife Myrt, passed away in 1999 after 30 years of marriage.
About 1986 he became associated with Lorain County Community College in Elyria, Ohio. He worked and went to school there until the end of 2013.
He will be dearly missed.
