Gerald “Jerry” Porrini passed away surrounded by family on August 16, 2024, at the age of 85, in Stow, OH where he lived for the past 50 years. Though he battled with serious health issues in recent years, his kindness and sense of humor always remained even while battling his disease.
Jerry was born to James and Angelina Porrini on November 13, 1938. After graduating from Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, OH, Jerry attended Youngstown State University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Soon after graduating, he was hired by B.F. Goodrich in Akron, then immediately drafted into the US Army, where he served two years at Ft. Leonard Wood, in Missouri. Jerry returned to B.F. Goodrich, where he spent his entire career until retiring in 1996.
Jerry met his wife Donna, the love of his life, while working at B.F. Goodrich. They were happily married for 58 years and had three children Douglas (Anna), Michelle (Mark), and Lisa (Jeff). Jerry was a doting grandfather to his six grandchildren Shelby, Abigayle, Luke, Alexander, Angelina and Zachary. He also leaves behind his sister Jean (Charles) and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his good friends, Cathy and Gary.
Jerry loved reading. Whether it was suspense novels or his multiple daily newspapers; he loved gaining knowledge. Jerry enjoyed vacations at the beach, where he was a legend for his excessively long walks and bright pink cap. He had a love/hate relationship with golf and gambling, but regularly enjoyed doing both with his family and friends. Jerry was an avid gardener and found joy in sharing his abundant crops with his family. He was a life-long Cleveland sports fan, and he never missed the Ohio State vs. Xichigan game. The thing he loved the most were the people in his life, and if you were one of those people, you knew you were loved.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, August 31st at 10 a.m. at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, OH.
