Gerald Strasser

Gerald M. “Jerry” Strasser, age 91, passed away June 21, 2023 from dementia. He was born December 23, 1931 to the late Martin and Catherine Strasser in Canton, Ohio. After his US Army service he and his wife, Carolyn, settled in Louisville.  Jerry was a Kent State University graduate and salesman for Metropolitan Insurance Co. He enjoyed many  activities; gardening with his wife, playing cards, bowling, fishing, hunting, pitching horseshoes, reading Westerns, raising his many dogs, and watching the Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers. Favorite days were family gatherings and vacations to the  cottage on the Trent River in Canada. He enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participate in sports through the years.

He is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Carolyn, who passed after 49 years of marriage; brother, William; and  sister, Marge Strauss, who died the same day as him.

He is survived and greatly missed by his children and their spouses, Vicki (Bob) Leuenberger, Martin “Scott” Strasser, Jeff (Lori) Strasser, and Christine (Ed) Steigerwald;  11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jayne Clugston, Janet Horst, and Judy Sutton; along with many nephews and nieces.

Calling hours are Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 5 to 7pm at Paquelet Falk Funeral Home Louisville, Ohio. A Mass of Christian burial will be  held Monday, June 26, 2023 at 10 am at St. Louis Catholic Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the loving caregivers at St. Joseph Senior Care Memory Unit. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his children who are purchasing care and activity items for St. Joseph’s Memory Unit.
