Gerald "Jerry" W. Valentine a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, at the age of 88 at the Cleveland Clinic.
Jerry was born in Alliance & raised in Maximo, Ohio on June 20, 1936 to Ray and Ruth Valentine. He retired from Crown Heating & Cooling after working 40+ years in the HVAC industry. He loved playing golf with the Old Coots, being so proud of achieving a hole in one. He was Exaulted Ruler of the B.P.O.E. 467 in Alliance from 1981-1982. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and games with family and friends, bowling, cheering on Ohio State and his beloved Cleveland Browns and the Guardians. He thoroughly enjoyed working in his garden and traveling. Above all he loved his family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Janice; his children, Julie Novak (Bob), Jim (Christy) Arizona; granddaughters, Amanda Novak (California), Jessica Valentine (Arizona); stepson, Ed Furcolow; stepdaughters, Lisa (John Thompson), Lynette Guthrie; step-grandson, James Rutherford; step-granddaughters, Abby Guthrie and Karen Guthrie; and his beloved dog, Maddie.
Jerry was also preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Valentine whom he was married to for 43 years. In addition, Jerry was preceded in death by brothers, Gene, Rich; sisters-in-law, Carol and Mary Jane; brother-in-law, Dick Schilling; and nephews, Timmy Valentine and Carl Schilling.
Jerry comes from a family of 13 children. He is survived by his siblings, Virgil, Betty, Hal (KC) (California), Jim (Evelyn), Ray (Sue), Wayne, Juanita Schillig (Iowa), Denny (Linda), Reggie (Linda), and Steve (Michele), sisters-in-law, Gerri Valentine and Cindy Valentine.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, February 19 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 3295 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, OH 44601. Calling hours will be from 9:30 AM-11:00 AM with a service afterwards and a luncheon to follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church at the above address. The family will have a private burial at a later date.
