Gordon M. Higgins
4/19/1947 – 5/4/24
The man. The myth. The legend. Gordie was loved. He was a master chief. He loved making whirly gigs. Things he loved making his famous fried burritos, volunteering, always, food pantry, Salvation Army bell ringing, adventures with kids. He was a storyteller and jokester. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially bird watching and his dog, Toby.
He was from Maryland, but spent most of his life in San Diego, California.
Gordie joined his parents, Virginia and James; sister, Meme; brother, Jimmy; and his beloved wife, Betty.
He leaves behind his adopted daughter and grandkids; his two brothers, Wink (who he absolutely loved talking to) and Michael; and his special friend, Beverly.
Gordie was a real hero. He retired from the Navy after 27 years and was a volunteer fireman. A best friend to everyone. We will miss him.
Gordie didn’t want a funeral. He wanted a gathering and make it simple.
He said, “Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but the adventure on the way”.
We will gather on June 30, 2024 at 2pm at Tuscora Park in the pavilion at the top of the hill. Look for red, white and blue decorations. It is our honor to celebrate him. Please come and join us. Condolences and special memories of Gordie can be shared with his loved ones online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
