Harold Eugene Espenschied, 75 of New Philadelphia, Ohio died December 13 at University Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, Ohio after a period of declining health. Gene or “Espy”, was born November 28, 1946, to Emmet and Sylvia Krebs Espenschied at Dover, Ohio. Gene proudly served his country in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970 attaining the rank of Sergeant E-5. Espy was retired from Union Camp in Dover, Ohio. It was always a passion of Gene’s to buy old cars and fix them up and resell them. From the time he first learned to drive he was always seen around town in really “cool” cars. Gene is survived by his son, Mike Espenschied of Pressath, Germany, 3 Grandchildren, Danny, Timo (Nadine), and Selina Espenschied also of Germany. He was very proud to be a Great grandfather to Finley and Helena Espenschied.
He also leaves behind a brother Emmet (Butch) Espenschied, Niece Gwen (Tim) Moore and Nephew Charles Espenschied. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Pauline Espenschied. Burial will be at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Dover, Ohio with services planned for a later date.
