Jack Boduszek passed away gently on 6/24/24 with his family at his side. He leaves his children, a son, Graham, a daughter, Jocelyn, and a former wife and friend Dianne. Jack has two sisters and a brother, Donna Ceo (partner Jerry Barczyk), Debbie Lundeen (deceased) (husband Tom Lundeen) and James Boduszek (deceased). His father and mother, John and Emily (nee Dloniak) Boduszek, preceded him. Jack was godfather to his nieces, Dana Martell and Tara Lundeen Belisle and was Uncle Jack to Tommy Lundeen and Denise Rafferty.
Jack loved to make people laugh and was always the life of the party. There was no easier-going guy; few things bothered him, he learned how to let life’s challenges just roll off his back.
Jack worked for Gould/Westinghouse/Northrup Grumman for many years until the torpedo business moved out of town. Then he tried his hand at being Mr. Mom which he enjoyed more than torpedoes. Finally, Jack took up landscaping with his buddies Tom, Danny, and Eric. Their daily goal was to make Tom’s blood pressure higher than the day before with Jack as the instigator.
Jack was a 1969 graduate from South High and he earned a mathematics degree from Cleveland State University in 1973. He had a curious mind and needed to understand how everything worked including all of the buttons in your car when you were giving him a ride.
Jack loved to bowl and was on a bowling team with his Gould buddies for years. He could roll an amazing “banana” ball that often resulted in a strike but occasionally landed in the gutter, which was of course due to lack of oil on the lane. He loved his Cleveland Indians (as he knew them) and on TWO separate occasions, Jack caught a long foul ball in right field with his bare hand (we still have them). When he played softball as a young man, Dianne said he ran like a gazelle in center field.
At the beach, Jack referred to himself as “Willie-the-Wave-Fighter.” No rip current, shark or sunburn could deter him. After defeating the waves, he would fly his kite and reward himself with a beer.
In 2017, Jack beat prostate cancer, only then to go up against Parkinson's, a vile and unforgiving disease. Parkinson's took our happy-go-lucky guy and robbed him of his sense of humor, his smile and his quality of life. Nonetheless, his need to always be on the move and change car settings remained intact. But through the journey, he was always Jack and we loved him unconditionally. He was a great guy and we will miss him terribly.
We invite you to join us for a funeral Mass at Gilmour Academy, 34001 Cedar Road, Gates Mills, on Saturday, July 6, 12:00 noon, followed by a celebration of Jack’s life at Stonewater Golf Club, 1 Club Drive, Highland Hts.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hospice of the Western Reserve, www.hospicewr.org. They cared for Jack and our family with so much love and compassion in his last few days, we will be forever grateful.
