James Ralph Flack aka "Gator", age 74, passed away on March 13, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio, at the Louis B. Stokes VA Medical Center. Born on July 28, 1950, in Cleveland, he was the beloved son of the late Ora and Mary Shaner Flack of Wooster, Ohio, who later made their home in Ruskin, Florida.

PFC James Ralph Flack was drafted into the U.S. Army on September 8, 1970, proudly serving his country in Vietnam until October 27, 1971. His time in the military shaped him, instilling a deep resilience and strength that carried through the rest of his life.

After his service, Jim found joy in a variety of jobs, working as a courier and embracing new opportunities while living in Florida, where he enjoyed the sunny, hot weather. He had a passion for boat racing, golfing, and cycling—always staying active and making the most of each day.

While living in Florida, this is where his great fandom for the Florida Gators, Tampa Bay Lighting, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers began.

Known for the twinkle in his eye and his sharp, witty sense of humor, Jim had a gift for making friends wherever he went. His warmth and charisma left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.

When he moved back to Ohio, he met a wonderful group of supportive friends at The Chestnut in Cuyahoga Falls. Together, they would watch sports and enjoy cold beers. Jim continued to stay active by riding his bicycle everyday, even in the winter, until his illness would not allow it.

Jim is survived by his loving daughter, Tracy Cochran of Akron, Ohio; his sister, Bonnie J. Clark of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; his niece, Pandora (Jeffrey) Cunningham of Fairlawn, Ohio; and his nephew, Caleb (Shaunna) Clark of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jim will be cremated and laid to rest with military honors at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where a service will be held at a later date.

Jim’s legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Condolences and special memories of Jim can be shared with his family online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
