James R. Ziemer, Sr.

James R. Ziemer, Sr., 88 of New Philadelphia passed away at The Truman House on May 25, 2022. He was born January 3, 1934 to the  late Paul Henry Ziemer and Susan Elizabeth Reif, in Walnut, Minnesota. The family moved to Ohio when James was young. Jim served our country in the Army and was honorably discharged.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Willadean (Martin) Ziemer in February 2021; his first-born grandson, Christopher Lee Metzger in 1999; brother, Richard Ziemer; sister, Rosalie Bishop; brother-in-law, Rev. William Bishop; and sister-in-law, Clara Ziemer.

James is survived by his 5 children, Rebecca Ziemer of Snellville, Georgia, Deborah (Dean) Shriver of New Philadelphia, Darlene (Mike) Cottrell of Urichsville, Sarah (Bob) Starner of Sugarcreek and James R. Ziemer, Jr., of the home; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews, a niece and many cousins.
