Janet Lynne Blair

Janet Lynne Blair, aged 75, died on Friday, 2 December 2022 in Canton, Ohio with her beloved family by her side. Janet was born 13 April 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, to Abel William “Bill” Blair (Blarel) and Corrine Margaret “Connie” Blair (née McDonald).  Janet graduated from West Virginia State College in 1978 with two Bachelors Degrees (in Biology & Psychology). Additionally, she studied medicine at Marshall University and anthropology at University of Arizona in Tucson. She loved science, history, true crime, politics, and current events.

Janet was a loving, dedicated, and loyal mother and grandmother, known for her amazing cooking skills and generous nature. She was always one to fiercely fight for the underdogs, she would stand up to bullies, racists, and anyone who tried to hurt another person. She loved animals and was caring and compassionate. She never left behind her dichotomous nature of being both a pacifist when it came to wars, and a fighter when it came to social issues. She was a “real life hippie”, as her daughter fondly refers to her. Leaving Detroit during the riots in 1967, she moved to the Haight-Ashbury area of San Francisco. She eventually came back home to West Virginia to pursue her degrees, before eventually moving to Tucson, Arizona. She decided to spend her retirement years in Ohio so she could be closer to all her family members.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents, as well as the love of her life, Dr. David Lee Edens, PhD.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Heather Edens Blair; her beloved grandsons, Alexander Wilson and Henry Wilson; as well as her brother, Jim Blair; her sisters, Jerilynn McKinney, Barbara (Jon) Corbett, Beth (Bill) Glenn, and Kelli (Todd) Hughes; her goddaughter, Stephanie (Tony) Van Norman; as well as many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and numerous other extended family members and friends, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her dog and four cats.
