Jerome Dean Showalter, “Jerry” was born in the spring of 1951. He was a lifelong resident of Vermilion, Ohio, and the surrounding area.
Jerry graduated from Vermilion High School in 1969. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and trapper. He really enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, boating and especially camping.
He retired from the Vermilion Post Office after 33 years of devoted service. He then enjoyed working with the City of Vermilion, Parks and Recreation for an additional 13 years.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father Clarence Showalter and mother Florence Showalter (Hausrod), his brother James Showalter and granddaughter Prudence Watson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbra Showalter (Tallman), daughters Heidi Wojtowicz (Showalter) and Sara Badiuk (Showalter), stepdaughters Leiloni Marciszewski (Senior) and Heidi Watson (Senior); his sons-in-law John Badiuk, Bruce Marciszewski and Mark Watson; grandchildren Madi, Kevin, Katie, Kaleb, Ryan, JJ, Izzi, and Annaliese. He also leaves behind his brother John Showalter, sister-in-law Gloria Showalter (Duda) and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Vermilion VFW, 7576 Poorman Road Vermilion, Ohio 44089 on Friday, January 20th from 4-9pm. Family and friends are welcome to come and enjoy sharing memories and time together.
