Jerry Rae Butler
Jerry Rae Butler, of Brewster, Ohio passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 at the age of 84.
Jerry was born in Altus, Oklahoma, February 17, 1935 to Jay McCarty and Vassie Lee (Bailey) Dale. She enjoyed working with children as a den mother in the Boy Scouts and as an elementary school librarian.
A special thanks to the staff at Brewster Parke Assisted Living and Nursing Facility, for the exceptional care given to Jerry.
Jerry is preceded in death by her parents; brother; Jack Dale, and husbands; C. Herbert Cox and William Butler.
She is survived by her brother; Bob (Kathy) Dale, her sons; Michael (Cathleen Civello) Cox, Mark (Terri) Cox, Greg (Christie) Cox, Joel (Paige) Cox; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Jerry’s interment will be held at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Hobbs, New Mexico, near her parents and brother Jack. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to www.projectnightnight.org; a charity for homeless children, that provides a new security blanket, an age-appropriate children’s book, and a stuffed animal — all nestled inside of a new canvas tote bag.
