Jo Anne Cooper of Manchester (New Franklin) died April 29, 2024 at a rehabilitation facility following hip surgery.  Jo Anne was born February 9, 1935 in Braxton County, West Virginia to Fred Sears and Laura (Payne) Sears.  Jo Anne lost her mother Laura when she was 9 years old, but was blessed when her father married Mabel Tyree Hinkle, who soon became Jo Anne’s second mother.  Jo Anne graduated from Richwood High School in Richwood, Nicholas County, West Virginia.  Several years later she married Jack Cooper, also from Richwood, and moved to Akron, Ohio.  Jo Anne raised 5 sons in Manchester (New Franklin) and worked for many years at the Portage Lakes branch of National City Bank (now PNC).  She was a longtime member of Wedgewood United Methodist Church in Akron.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, her son Steve, and her sister Ada Ludwick (Grafton, West Virginia).  

She is survived by sons Jack (Ellen) of North Canton, Fred of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Greg of Florida, and Jeff of Bangkok, Thailand, six grandchildren, and her sister Elizabeth Miller (Grafton, West Virginia).
