Joan Marie "Joanie" Horvath, 90 of Chagrin Falls, Ohio passed away in her home on June 14, 2024.
Joanie was born on March 20, 1934, in the Buckeye Road area of Cleveland, Ohio to Stella (Drabek) and Louis Slifcak. Joanie was married to the late Joseph Horvath for over 50 years and raised her 5 children in Bedford and Northfield before calling Chagrin Falls home.
Joanie was an avid reader, traveler, gardener, and collector of antiques. She was a woman of strong Catholic faith demonstrated by her years of participation in Perpetual Adoration at St. Barnabas Church and later her attendance at the Church of the Holy Angels. She was also an extremely social person and loved to brag about her beautiful and talented granddaughters to anyone who would lend an ear. Joanie worked at Acacia Country Club in Beachwood, Ohio for over 40 years. It was here that she met many of her lifelong friends with whom she enjoyed both shopping and traveling. Joanie will always be remembered for her love of a good biscotti alongside her daily cherished cup of tea.
Joanie is survived by her children Mark (Patricia), David, Dean, Jill, Lee (Jennifer), and daughter-in-law Veronica; her five granddaughters Samantha (James), Alyssa, Aubrey, Sydney, and Maddie; and her two great-granddaughters Nora and Morgan.
Mrs. Horvath is preceded in death by her parents, Stella, and Louis Slifcak; her husband Joseph Horvath; and sister Eleanor Podboy.
A funeral Mass will be held on August 10th, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Barnabas Catholic Parish Church, 9451 Brandywine Road, Northfield, OH 44067.
