Joan M. Willis

Joan M. Willis of Canton, passed away on January 13, 2025. Joan was born in Massillon, Ohio on February 28,1929 to the late George Rearick and Dorthy (Watkins) Moran. She graduated from Massillon High School. Joan was married to Jack Willis in 1952 and they were married for 64 loving years. 

Her pride was never contained as she spoke and boasted about her family. Often called "Oma", by family and friends, Joan enjoyed the playtime she spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. In her spare time, she enjoyed family parties, playing cards and in general being surrounded by friends and family. Joan was the most loving, giving and generous person to everyone she knew. She also loved to travel; her favorite trip being Germany with her best friend, Chris. Her family called her the "shopping queen", she would often out-shop her daughters in search of the perfect treasure. Joan will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband Jack Willis and three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by six sisters, four daughters: Jacklyn Willis, June (Dan) Beitler, Janet (Rick) Duke, Jill (Greg) Cassidy. Grandchildren: Angie Moore, Jack (Tina) Sumney, Daniel (Jillian) Beitler, Laura (Reece) Hill, Jamiee (Michael) Natale-Kimmey, Steven Willis and Justin Cassidy. Along with numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. She will be greatly missed by her companion dog, Lakota.

The family wishes to extend much deserved gratitude and deep appreciation to the team at Amherst Meadows Skilled Nursing and Rehab, along with Crossroads Hospice.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of life at 3pm on Wednesday, January 15th at Trinity Brethren Church: 455 55th Street Northwest North Canton, Ohio 44720.
