In Loving Memory of

John Blaine Grogan

June 26, 1948 – August 27, 2022

John B Grogan passed away peacefully at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio on Saturday, August 27, 2022. He was surrounded by the friends that were his family, the people who loved him more than anything. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mollie Cart (Grogan), and his rottweilers Harley and Larry. He is survived by numerous friends, the people he chose as his family, and his rottweiler Greg. We would like to thank everyone who works in the MICU at Aultman Hospital for their amazing care and grace.

John was born in Murphy, North Carolina and moved to Akron Ohio as a young boy. He was a proud 1968 Graduate of Akron Garfield High School where he excelled in the auto body program. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served for four years in Vietnam. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, John returned home to Akron, Ohio and began working as a line operator for Morgan Adhesive (MACTAC) in Stow, Ohio. John worked there for over 35 years before retiring. John was an avid fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball team and the Boston Celtics. In his younger years there was always a game of basketball taking place in his driveway and he could score on anyone with his patented hook shot. He loved to water ski and to go back to the area near his childhood home in North Carolina to camp. He spent his life taking care of others and often putting their needs before his own. He was selfless and saw the potential in everyone even before they saw it themselves. John leaves behind a legacy of men and women whose lives were changed forever for the better because they knew him. May he rest in peace.

Per his wishes, John has been cremated and his ashes will be scattered near Murphy, North Carolina. There will be a celebration of life later this fall.
