John J. Fiehn (70), passed away on August 28, 2023, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. He fought through his diagnosis with unbridled determination, dignity, and strength. Taking his last ride, he rode off into the sunshine on his favorite Ducati ST4 and is flying high in the sky. John and Flo met in high school and were married for over 46 years. He grew up in Coventry and went to St. Francis de Sales Grade and Archbishop Hoban High Schools and The University of Akron. While in college, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. His career encompassed working as a Firestone Service Store Manager for 20 years and then with his father at J&K Akron Medina Truck Parts. John could fix anything, and he was always willing to help friends and family. He was an avid water skier (boy, could he put up a wall of water behind that boat), snow skier, and motorcyclist. In addition to weekend “toothbrush” rides, John was thrilled to have ridden out to the West Coast (over 7,500 miles) in July 2010 camping out every night under the stars and also rode to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia in 2011. John enjoyed hiking and bicycling in the Cuyahoga Valley Metro Parks. Even after his diagnosis, he could still ride and hike faster and farther than everyone. While enjoying those activities, John and Flo made many memories together and created lifelong friendships. John was a member of the Goodyear Ski Club (one of the official big ski dogs) and the Green YMCA for many years. He had a warm heart and was always the life of the party with his “Fiendish” smile and twinkling eyes. Preceded In death by his parents, John and Mary; brother Rick; uncles and aunts Joe & Betty Fiehn, Nick & Bev Fiehn, and Konrad & Elizabeth Reiter; cousins Linda Reiter and Frank Fiehn. He is survived by his wife, Flo; brother Mike (fiancé Hollie Thorla); sisters- and brothers-in-law Josephine & Mark Hansel, Lucy & Hal Bowers, and Tony Fiocca; cousins Joe (Becky) Reiter, Bob (Justine) Fiehn, Ellie (Kevin) Carris, and Debi (Bryan) Griffin; nieces Stacy (James) Efstathiou, Marisa (Tim) Sturm, Haley (Andy) Bittner, Grace Bowers (his evil twin), and Olivia and Ava Fiehn; nephews Aaron Fiehn, Philip and Brad Hansel, and Troy (Lizzy) Bowers; and special godson, Nick (Andrea) Parianos.
