John W Miller Jr passed away Sunday, August 20th, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family. John was born September 20th, 1944 in Midland, PA to the late John and Stella (Golba) Miller. John loved his family, and his favorite times were when the family was together for holidays and vacations. Christmas was his favorite holiday and when his grandchildren were young, he would dress as Santa. He enjoyed reading and playing computer games. Trains, Donald Duck, and banana cream pie were favorites of his. After retiring from the railroad where he spent nearly 40 years, he was able to relax and enjoy life. John served his country in Vietnam and was a very proud United States Marine.
Left to mourn his loss but celebrate his memory are his loving wife of 55 years Judy (Kolar) Miller whom he married August 26, 1967, his children, Jan (Tom) McDowell of Green, John (Jacquie) Miller of Louisville and Jenn (Mike) Wilks of Alliance; his grandchildren, Brandon Brown, John Miller IV, Ashley (Heath) Williams, Trevor McDowell, and Evan McDowell; great grandchildren Milo and Cooper Williams and due in September another great grandson; brother-in-law, Joseph Casey, sister-in-law, Patricia Kovacic, brother-in-law, James Kolar, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death are his parents John & Stella Miller, in-laws James & Mary Jane Kolar, brother James Miller, sister Joann Casey, sister-in-law Gloria (Reed) Kolar, and brother-in-law Milan “Rocky” Kovacic.
The family would like to thank everyone involved in John’s care over the last 8 months. Per John’s wishes there will be no calling hours but the family will have a Celebration of Life for John on September 16th. Please join us at 2pm at LaPizzaria’s Crystal Room (3656 Dressler Rd NW, Canton, OH) for a meal and to share stories. If you haven’t already let the family know you’ll attend, please confirm with them so we have a total number by September 8th.
