Joyce was born on April 16, 1942 and graduated from Mayfield High School in 1961. She was a cashier at A&P supermarket in Cleveland Ohio until 1968. She married John B Amantea on July 4th, 1964. Her only son John was born in December of 1969. After her son’s birth, she was active in Brook Park Memorial’s PTA and held various positions from selling Mary Kay cosmetics and was a waitress at York Steakhouse. After her divorce in the early 80’s, she attended Real Estate classes at Cleveland State and Business Management classes at Cuyahoga Community College. She worked as a cashier at Kmart and even did some telemarketing for the Cleveland Ballet and the Great Lakes Theater. In the early 90’s she found herself interested in security and started to work security after her Secretarial job with a medical doctor in Cleveland. She continued to work security at Tower City until she passed away.
Her son John married in the mid-90’s and she enjoyed spending time with John and Marilyn. She was a proud grandmother to Dominic and Amanda. The family enjoyed spending time together usually over a meal. She was known for her “giggle”, never really letting out a full laugh.
The family requests donations to
Southwest General Residential Hospice
in Strongsville, Ohio whose staff and volunteers made her final days very peaceful.
