Judith Anne Whalen, known affectionately as Judy, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024, in Louisville, Ohio, at the age of 78. Born on June 12, 1946, in Canton, Ohio, to Charles and Elizabeth Laher, Judy grew up in a loving family, later embracing life with the same warmth and kindness that characterized her upbringing.
Judy graduated from McKinley High School, where she formed many lifelong friendships and developed a love for learning that she carried throughout her life. She married Tom Whalen, and together they shared countless adventures and simple joys, from bike rides to traveling, particularly cherished visits to her sister Pat in Texas.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Judy's legacy includes her daughters, Christina Watson and Tammy (Michael) Clayton, and her grandchildren, Craig (Ashlie) Carr, Alysia (Christopher) London, Moriah (Isaiah) Schlegel, Alexandria Watson, and Thomas Watson. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Waddell and Landon London. Judy's family was the center of her world, and she nurtured each relationship with care and affection.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth, her sisters Linda Laher and Mary Miner, and her brother Jimmy Laher, Judy leaves behind a family grateful for her love and teachings. She is survived by her husband, Tom; brothers David (Ruby) Laher and Paul Laher; sisters Liz (Dave) Oberly and Pat Saurer; and her loving children and grandchildren.
Judy's life was filled with the joy of the simple pleasures-her dog Buddy, her bird AJ, and the company of family and friends. Her warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 20, 2024, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home, 303 S. Chapel St., Louisville.
