Kathleen Hartline born June 1, 1954, went home to be with the Lord June 12, 2023, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ruby Scherer and brother, Ed Scherer.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Fred Hartline; son, Fred Hartline II and daughter, Candi (Ralph) Hannaman. Kathy shared a special bond with her niece, Pamela Hoffmaster and she treasured the relationship she had with Pam and her family.
Kathy loved staying connected with friends and family and playing games on the internet. Kathy loved supporting George Niemoeller’s streams almost as much as she loved karaoke and wrestling. She was always good for a poke, like or an encouraging word. She loved scrolling all the pictures posted so she could feel like a bigger part of everyone’s lives and loved watching everyone’s children grow up.
Kathy was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 566. She served in many capacities over the course of her 47-year membership. Kathy was proud to be a Past Unit President and enjoyed serving others in the Veterans community as much as she was able to. Over the years she volunteered at the VA Hospital, selling poppies, countless dinners, and many other various projects, as a woman of faith she enjoyed her time as Chaplain greatly. Kathy was proud to be a part of an organization that does so much to help Serve Members Past, Present, and Future,
Kathy was always willing to lend an ear or offer an encouraging word to her family and friends whether in person or on-line. She had many adopted children who she cherished as much as her own children.
Her strength and faith became an encouragement to others fighting their own battles. She handled every fight with such strength and determination. Kathy didn’t let cancer or any other battle in her life define her. She handled every situation with a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She never let adversity stop her. If you knew her, you loved her, and more than likely she had helped you through something. That’s who she was!
She will be greatly missed but know Kathy is walking the streets of gold with her Lord and Savior. Honor her by doing something to help someone else. A Celebration of Life will be held at American Legion Post 566 on July 14 from 6-10pm. 2974 Cormany Rd., Akron, Ohio 44319 Condolences and special memories of Kathy can be shared with her loved ones at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
