Kathryn Louise Scherer, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, July 1, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Vernice Yarger, her husband, Earl Scherer and a granddaughter, Carrie Waters. She is survived by her 3 children, Louanne (Paul) Hedberg, Clark Scherer and Sherrie (Larry) Bush, her siblings, Bernice (Jim) May of Carrollton, OH, Carol McCaughan of Babson Park FL and Nelson (Helen) Yarger of Winter Haven FL. Kathryn also has 1 granddaughter, Gloria (Dale) Wells of Fostoria, OH, 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Kathryn was an outgoing woman who loved learning new things. She dedicated her life to raising her family. She was active in her life at church, with Girl Scouts and with family and friends. She was teased often that her hobby was collecting new hobbies and all the stuff to go with them. She loved to make things and give them to people. She always poured her heart into what she did, from teaching Sunday School, directing Vacation Bible School, playing the piano, doing crafts and sewing, cake decorating and candy making to entertaining. Kathryn had an ornery side that made her the life of the party. She will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank the Canton Christian Home and Crossroads Hospice for her care especially during her last few weeks. The love and care given to her was so appreciated. You truly have a loving heart – especially when a resident isn’t always lovely in their behavior.
A time of celebration will be held on Saturday, July 13 from 2-4 at the Canton Christian Home in the main Dining Room. Kathryn’s favorite colors were pink and purple, so wear something in those colors to honor her if you can. Condolences and special memories of Kathryn can be shared with her family online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
