Kean Leigh Kanagy

Kean Leigh Kanagy, 67, of Alliance, Ohio, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, after a sudden illness.

Kean was born on August 6, 1955, to Charles and Norma Jean Kanagy in Canton, Ohio. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1974, he went on to become a carpenter’s apprentice. He was an incredibly talented drummer who played in several local bands.  Later, he went on to a career in sound engineering.

On October 13, 1981, Kean met Susan Eisenhuth at Surfside 6 Bar in Lorain. They were married on October 12, 1985.

Kean was a member of American Coaster Enthusiasts and the National Amusement Park Historical Association and visited multiple amusement parks across the nation. His love for roller coasters was his passion. Kean was incredibly talented with his hands and had the skills to do and build any project. In 2012, Kean retired and spent his time collecting amusement park memorabilia, airship models, and working in his yard. He was a caring and compassionate person who loved both people and animals, especially his family and friends and his dogs, cats, and ferrets. He will be remembered by his family as someone who had a strong mindset and could overcome any challenge he faced in life.

Kean was preceded in death by his father, Charles Kanagy, mother, Norma Jean Kanagy, and nephew Eric Musat. He is survived by his wife, Sue of Alliance; sister, Belinda Musat of Utah and her children, Brooke (Sean Leonard) of Utah and Will (Amanda Salazar) of California; and nephew, Bryan Cole (Katie Cole) and their children, Hannah and Shenan, of Virginia.

A celebration of life will be held in August near the location of his favorite amusement park, Meyer’s Lake, that he frequented in his youth. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Angels for Animals and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, organizations that Kean felt strongly about.
